Going out of business sales are set to start on Friday at Bon-Ton stores across the country. However, some stores may remain open longer, depending on inventory available.

The parent company, Bon-Ton Stores Inc., announced Thursday that the final sales at 212 stores and e-commerce websites are expected to run for approximately 10-12 weeks.

Younkers operates stores in Omaha at Westroads Mall and Oak View Mall. Fridays and Saturdays, and from 11 a.m.to 7 p.m.

The company said it will "move forward in a constructive manner to ensure an orderly wind-down of operations that minimizes the impact on associates, customers, vendors and their communities". It was acquired by Bon-Ton in 2005.

The challenge of regulating Facebook
The company's chief technology officer wrote that Facebook would be shutting down some of the APIs' core functions and features. It has also banned reviews of new apps on Facebook . "To the contrary, our goal is to be a platform for all ideas", Zuck said.

According to a release from Bon-Ton, the company's rewards program has been discontinued. Adding further, he said that Bon-Ton tried hard to find those bidders who are interested in operating the business as a going concern. The company's credit card will no longer be accepted. But, if you still have a balance on one of those cards, you still need to pay it off. The cards themselves soon will be closed, the company's statement said. After that, they won't be valid. The liquidators are not, however, required to accept any mall or landlord-issued gift cards.

All Younkers and Younkers Home stores are expected to close by the end of August.

Following an announcement by Bon-Ton Stores Inc. on April 18 that the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of DE approved a sale between the company and a joint venture, Bon-Ton announced it will work "constructively with the winning bidder to ensure an orderly wind-down of operations that minimizes the impact on associates, customers, vendors and the communities" the stores serve.

The going-out-of-business sale dates and details apply to all locations.
