Arrest Made Following Binghamton Stabbing

Earlier in the afternoon, university police released surveillance photos of the suspect wearing dark trousers and a dark, hooded sweatshirt as they asked for the public's help.

Souza graduated previous year from Blind Brook High School in Rye Brook, New York, where he was a star soccer player.

"We feel incredible pain and sorrow, we can't even imagine their despair", said Brian Rose, vice president of Student Affairs, during a Monday news conference. This had been the second killing of students there in five weeks, grieving and departing the campus tense.

Investigators from multiple agencies interviewed people throughout the night and determined the stabbing was not a random act. He was described in the Facebook post "as a light-skinned male wearing dark trousers and a dark, Puma hooded sweatshirt".

State University Police, Broome County Sheriff's deputies and the State Forest Rangers have been searching wooded areas near campus in search of evidence.

The camera showed the judge, prosecutors and defence lawyers, but not potential jurors who were being questioned as a group. On Wednesday, they switched gears and claimed the district attorney was purposely striking black women from the panel.

All classes at Binghamton University are canceled Monday, April 16 following the incident.

This was the second slaying of a student in the last two months.

Broome County District Attorney's office says Michael M. Roque, 20, is charged with 2nd degree murder. A 22-year-old nursing student named Haley Anderson was killed in her off-campus home in March.

In December 2009, Richard T. Antoun, an emeritus professor of anthropology, was stabbed to death on campus by a graduate student.
