Snow, ice pellets, freezing rain on tap for Almaguin this weekend

Environment Canada is out with a Winter Storm Warning for areas of Barrie, Orillia, Collingwood, Midland, Muskoka, Parry Sound, and parts of Dufferin County.

The National Weather Service Saturday issued an ice storm warning as freezing rain forecast from 2 p.m. Saturday through 2 p.m. Sunday is expected to bring a half-inch accumulation of ice. Power outages and tree damage are "likely" due to the winds and ice, and travel will be hard at times due to ice-covered surfaces and downed tree limbs and power lines.

A freezing rain warning is now in effect for the city, along with much of Wellington County and Waterloo Region, and could see as much as 25 mm of ice buildup by Sunday afternoon. Exams scheduled for Saturday, April 14, will now take place on Thursday, April 26.
