Three law enforcement officers shot in Georgia

One police officer was killed and two deputies were shot Friday morning while they were serving a warrant in Georgia, according to 11 Alive.

The television station said the incident occurred in Locust Grove, a city about 30 miles southeast of Atlanta.

After talking with the person who they wanted to arrest, deputies called dispatch for backup and the Locust Grove officer arrived minutes later.

CBS 46 in Atlanta reports an officer-involved shooting is under investigation in Georgia Friday.

The brother of the wounded Deputy Michael Corley, Wade Corley, told Christy Hutchings with the New Talk 106.7 his brother will survive his wounds.

Authorities have released the identities of two Georgia sheriff's deputies wounded in a shooting that also left a police officer dead. Both were wearing bulletproof vests, but the deputy in serious condition was shot below the vest.

Price said Maddox and his wife were the parents of one child and were expecting another.

"We just can't believe this happened", he said. The other deputy continues to recover from his injuries. Two have been flown to a local hospital and one was taken by ambulance.

Police blocked off multiple entrances of a subdivision not far from an outlet mall and were turning people who don't live in the neighborhood away. Nearby Locust Grove Elementary School was put on lockdown.
