Philadelphia 76ers' C Joel Embiid has been named a starter on his first NBA All-Star team.

Embiid thanked the fans on Twitter for their support.

So far this season, Embiid has averaged 23.9 points per game, 11 rebounds per game, 3.5 assists per game, and 1.9 blocks per game in 32 contests.

- Even though the Celtics provided little resistance, Joel Embiid showed the versatility that made him an All-Star Game starter.

With his first All-Star Game selection comes the opportunity to take a victory lap around those who previously doubted or underestimated his ability, and Embiid has a few of those haters to check off his list.

Ricardo Allen forced Ajayi to fumble on the next play and Matt Ryan drove the Falcons 59 yards into field-goal range. Philly's defense then quickly forced the Falcons to go three and out and gave Foles the ball back.

The 67th NBA All-Star Game will be played on February 18 at the STAPLES Center and broadcasted on TNT and ESPN Radio. The West group is just as stacked, featuring Golden State's Steph Curry and Kevin Durant, Houston's James Harden, and New Orleans' Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins. The coaches vote for the reserves, who will be announced Tuesday.

Embiid's message is pretty simple: If she didn't want me then, I'm not interested in her now.

Embiid has said in the past that he's not trying to date Rihanna and that he's just joking around, but he has also happily kept the joke going. Each captain must pick four players from the 10 starters. He's missed nine games this season, mostly as a result of not being cleared to play on back-to-back nights. In 2017, Embiid denied in an interview with ESPN's Dan LeBatard that it was the Bad Gal who previously given him the All-Star swerve, saying, "It's not who everybody thinks it is", and later answering the question of whether or not it's Rihanna with a definitive, "No". "We just didn't get enough ball movement... they were switching everything and I give credit to the Sixers; they defended us really well". "But hopefully, back-to-backs by the end of this month, I will be allowed to play". However, star point guard Kyrie Irving was absent for the marquee game. After two years away from the game with career-threatening foot injuries, Embiid saw his rookie season cut short by a meniscus tear.
