With former president Obama, Garner criticized his reactions to her father's death and the slow pace of the DOJ investigation. In July 2014, police endeavored to capture Eric Garner for purportedly offering cigarrettes wrongfully in Staten Island.

No terror group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. "Pained to hear that four policemen have been killed in an IED explosion in Sopore".

Deceased were identified as ASI Irshad Ahmed of Doda, Mohammad Amin of Kupwara and Ghulam Nabi of Sopore.

The IED went off at about 10am, when people were mostly indoors because of a shutdown called by the joint resistance leadership (JRL), and a huge deployment of government forces had been made in Sopore town to keep watch. The attack targeted a patrol unit of the police in the main market in Sopore. "May the four courageous J&K police personnel killed in the line of duty today rest in peace", Abdullah tweeted.

Later in the day, Khan led a wreath-laying ceremony for the slain policemen at the District Police Lines Sopore.

The authorities had deployed additional police and paramilitary CRPF men in the town to thwart any protests. Reinforcements have also been rushed to augment the forces on ground to hunt down the militants.
