Winter weather advisory issued for Wednesday in central Wisconsin

Weather conditions during this period will likely lead to snow-covered, slippery roads, especially in more rural areas.

Lake-effect snow will begin to churn again late Tuesday and through Wednesday. Lesser amounts, around 5 inches, are in the forecast for the Southtowns and Genesee county. Tuesday will see more flurries during the day as well as at night.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy; high near 38 degrees. Blowing and drifting snow also possible with strong and gusty northwest winds. The best accumulations with this larger-scale system should be over the higher terrain in the Catskills and Adirondacks, and to the south of Lake Erie into Pennsylvania, where flow off of Lakes Huron and Erie will enhance overall totals. The bands will slowly shift to the east, moving through the South Bend metro area. and our model has most of the snow this evening and overnight affecting more of the eastern half of Michiana (around USA 31 and eastward with the best chance for snow).

Egging this round of snow on will be some of the coldest air yet to plunge into the region this season. Temperatures will reach around freezing with wind chills in the low 20s.
