Baker Mayfield of Oklahoma speaks at the press conference for the 2017 Heisman Trophy Presentation on December 9, 2017 in New York City.

According to ESPN, Mayfield is the first senior to win the award since Ohio State's Troy Smith in 2006. As Mayfield's play was consistently dominant down the stretch and the other candidates fell off the pack, Mayfield emerged as the leader.

The quarterback is the sixth player in Sooners history to become a Heisman victor. His 203.8 pass efficiency rating also led all FBS passers.

Although Mayfield's Heisman win was arguably anticlimactic because of the combination of his dominant numbers and the Sooners' Big 12 title and College Football Playoff qualification, he still appeared taken aback by the enormity of the moment. He also ran for 310 yards and five more touchdowns on the ground.

Out of the 23,117 persons who were rescued during the year, children made 61.3% of the victims (including victims of 2015). Delhi city accounted for 38.8% of total IPC crime reported in the cities followed by Bengaluru (8.9%) and Mumbai (7.7%).

Yes, there have been bumps in the journey, including an offseason public intoxication arrest and some recent drama in a game at Kansas. He threw for 598 yards in a Bedlam rivalry win over Oklahoma State, and he was almost flawless (27 of 35 for 386 yards and three TDs) in a 31-16 road win at Ohio State.

The enigmatic Sooners signal-caller threw for 4340 yards and 41 touchdowns while completing 71 percent of his passes.

Mayfield is no stranger to controversy, but you can't deny the impact he made on the field this season.

In other years, that may have been reason enough to not vote for Mayfield if the other candidates were even in the same stratosphere as him, but they're not, and that's why he may set a record for margin of victory when the Heisman is announced.
