The final season of House of Cards will resume production in 2018 without actor Kevin Spacey.

"[The last season] will bring closure of the show for fans", said Netflix president Ted Sarandos, at a UBS conference, according to Deadline.

The sixth and final season of the popular series will feature a lead role for Robin Wright, who plays the wife of Spacey's character.

"While we continue the ongoing investigation into the serious allegations concerning Kevin Spacey's behavior on the set of 'House of Cards, ' he has been suspended, effective immediately. It'll be an eight-episode season that'll start production early '18, and it will not involve Kevin Spacey", Sarandos said.

Of those series, Netflix will continue The Crown, which Sarandos said is the business' "most efficient shows" for obtaining and keeping subscribers.

It was announced in an official statement by Netflix that the company would no longer be affiliated with the once, critically-acclaimed actor following the on-going accusations against him. A number of options were posed-including killing off Spacey's Frank Underwood-but it marked a hard task as Spacey was the lead of the Netflix series.

Sarandos spoke about "House of Cards" at USB's Global Media and Communications Conference in NY. However, this may not be the end for House of Cards; sources surfaced in recent weeks claiming its spirit will live on in the form of a spin-off series.

The political drama was put on hold in the wake of sexual harassment allegations against the Oscar-winning actor.

Wright's character, Claire Underwood, finished season five by winning election as the first USA female president after wresting power from her husband. There is no word yet on when the final season of House of Cards will debut.

He said he didn't recall it, but allegations by other men followed.
