Trump Says He's Not Worried About What Flynn Will Tell Investigators

In his first public comments about Michael Flynn pleading guilty Friday to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about his interactions with a Russian official, President Donald Trump reiterated Saturday that his campaign did not collude with Russia during last year's presidential election.

In a statement Friday, Flynn said he has agreed to cooperate with special counsel Robert Mueller's team in its ongoing investigation into the Kremlin's attempts to influence the 2016 election, including possible coordination with the Trump campaign.

A day after Flynn resigned on February 13, Trump approached former FBI director James Comey and asked him to drop the federal investigation into Flynn, Comey testified before Congress.

DONALD Trump has upheld his decision to fire Michael Flynn because he "lied to the Vice President and the FBI". "I hope you can let this go", Trump said to Comey, according to Comey's memo on the conversation. The New York Times reported Strozok exchanged messages with a colleague in reacting to news events in ways that could construed to be critical of Trump.

Update, 8 p.m.: Ross has indeed issued a "clarification"-he now says Trump told Flynn to get in touch with Russian Federation after the 2016 election but before the January inauguration". In one of the conversations described in court documents, the men discussed an upcoming United Nations Security Council vote on whether to condemn Israel's building of settlements. Trump adds, "There was nothing to hide!"

Comey testified before a Senate panel in June that after Flynn's firing, Trump asked Comey to drop an investigation into the former national security director. Not only did a lengthy list of his own advisers make secret contact with Russian officials during the campaign, but his own family members did. President Donald Trump and many of his supporters have sought to discredit the investigation, in part by claiming a close relationship between Mueller and fired FBI Director James Comey and by pointing to political contributions to Democratic candidates made by some lawyers on the team.

Mr. Strzok's reassignment shows that Mr. Mueller moved swiftly in the face of what could be perceived as bias by one of his agents amid a politically charged inquiry into Mr. Trump's campaign and administration.

While the mainstream media goes around in circles desperately seeking evidence of wrongdoing in the Trump administration, it turns out a scandal of major import was under their noses all along.

There have been mixed reports from the White House about how seriously Trump would consider pardons.

It's unclear if the messages continued after Trump became president and after Mueller was appointed as special counsel in May.
