The BMW i8 Roadster features a fully electric fabric roof, which takes just 15 seconds to fold or open at speeds up to 30mph; when the roof is stowed, the car's rear window raises slightly to reduce air turbulence in the cabin, while the roof and its mechanism are created to allow for some storage space behind the front seats.
The roof, which consists of a large fabric-covered panel and integrated header rails, is claimed to open in just 15 seconds at speeds up to 31 miles per hour (50 km/h), providing the i8 Roadster with full open-air properties.
The engine is now boosted to 231hp giving a combined power output to 374hp which gives the i8 performance figures of 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds for the Coupe and 4.6 seconds for the Roadster. Both new models of the BMW i8 shown in LA are due to enter showrooms as 2019 model year entrants.
Another change to the powertrain is the new lithium-ion battery that now boasts a cell capacity of 34Ah (up from 20Ah) and an energy capacity of 11.6kW (up from 7.1kW). Both the 2019 BMW i8 Roadster and Coupe will be go on sale in the spring. We're not sure what the holdup was, but it was probably for the best that BMW reached so far into future for its looks; the thing still looks fairly fresh today (assuming you're into scoops, finlets and flying buttresses). The rear window doubles as a wind deflector can also be closed or opened independently without the roof. The electric motors now produce 105kW/143bhp and can drive the vehicle to 105kmph on pure battery power which can be increased to 120kmph at a push of a (eDrive) button.
The cabin has been updated similar to the i8 Coupe. The dashboard design is shared between the coupe and convertible and features the latest version of BMW's iDrive system that now comes with touch control on the free-standing 8.8-inch monitor. Efficiency improvements in the batteries also liberate an extra 12bhp from the electric motor, which powers the front wheels.
Other than two new colors (E-Copper and Donnington Grey) and a badge behind the doors, the Coupe looks pretty much like its predecessor. When we say this beast is packing a 1.5-litre engine it might not sound impressive but bare with us. The 2019 i8 still uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-three that makes 228 hp and 236 lb-ft.
Nearly every wins when Jerry Jones and Roger Goodell are fighting
Jones could be fined or suspended if found guilty, and the Cowboys could be stripped of one or more draft picks. There's still no clear successor to Goodell should owners wish to oust him from his role .
