The 66th Miss Universe is Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters. She competed against 91 contestants from around the globe, the biggest number of entrants in the history of the competition.

In the pageant's 66th year, almost 100 women from around the globe - including first-timers from Cambodia, Laos and Nepal - took part.
And the 22-year-old credited it all to her confidence.

Miss Philippines Rachel Peters stuns the crowd at the AXIS theater at Planet Hollywood casino-resort on the Las Vegas Strip. Falling just short in the finale, the first and second runner-ups were Miss Colombia, Laura González, and Miss Jamaica, Davina Bennett*, respectively.
Ninety-two women from around the had world participated in the competition. She was bestowed with the crown by last year's victor, Iris Mittenaere from France. Miss Universe has to overcome her fears and teach others to do the same. This year's judges included YouTube star Lele Pons, former judge of "America's Next Top Model" Jay Manuel and Wendy Fitzwilliam, the 1998 Miss Universe victor from Trinidad and Tobago.
Nel-Peters accepts her crown from her doppelganger, basically - Iris Mittenaere, Miss Universe 2016 (and previously Miss France).
