"He is now conscious and surrounded by family", his rep told Us on Saturday, November 18.

Cassidy shot to '70s teen idol stardom when he was cast to play the role of Keith Partridge on the hit musical TV show, which aired for four seasons and led to what the media called at the time "Cassidymania".

Cassidy, who watched his grandfather battle the disease and witnessed his mother "disappear" into dementia until she died at age 89, told PEOPLE of his diagnosis: "I was in denial, but a part of me always knew this was coming". I want to enjoy life'. He made 10 albums for The Partridge Family, as well as more than eight solo albums and 24 singles.
