Former University of MI quarterback Chad Henne is in a heated battle for the starting quarterback role in Jacksonville. During that stretch, the 2014 No. 3 overall pick completed 58.9 percent of his passes for 3,905 yards and 23 touchdowns with 16 interceptions.
Bortles looked like a franchise quarterback in his second season, throwing for 4,428 yards and 35 touchdowns and smashing several team records.
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne will start Thursday's preseason game against the Carolina Panthers, coach Doug Marrone announced on Wednesday. I'm sure both quarterbacks would have liked to done a better job, but offensively I think everyone needs to do a better job'.
Jacksonville had all offseason to figure out the quarterback situation.
After the Saturday morning announcement, we now project Henne for just 279.8 yards, 1.3 touchdowns and 1.1 interceptions on 41.7 attempts in 2017. I'm going to go back and look at things and see where we're at.

One would have to question why this is a team that hasn't yet signed Colin Kaepernick, but that would be a dumb question I guess because the answer is the same for all 32 National Football League teams, regardless of how desperate their situations at the position are.
"I'm going to go play as hard as I can". "I think everything is on the table".
Henne and Bortles said they made the most of the lineup switch. Sixth-round selections may just surprise you, as I believe one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game was drafted that late. After another shaky outing last week where he missed several wide open receivers, Marrone has stated that the quarterback job is up for grabs. "I think Blake had the ability to extend plays for us, which I think is going to be helpful in what we have to get done". As the preseason wore on Bortles, he and Henne ended up in a competition for who would gain the starting position. Marrone obviously isn't enthralled with him as his starter.
Henne, 32, has started 22 games (5-17) in four seasons with the Jaguars and has appeared in seven others.
