Swift poses in a battered-looking, loose-fitting gray sweater with a zig-zag stitch detail on her right shoulder and a chain choker necklace, looking more rebel than pop princess. On Monday, she mysteriously began posting short clips of a snake, which for some, signified the emoji that flooded her page past year following the revelation that she wrote the lyrics for ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris' "This Is What You Came For".

Last week, whispers about new music from Swift reached a fever pitch when the triumphant singer wiped her social media accounts clean.

Reputation follows her colossal blockbuster 1989, which won album of the year in 2014.

Swift announced the news in a series of images posted on her social media accounts Wednesday.

July furniture store sales jump 5
Excluding cars, retail sales still rose 0.5 per cent, while leaving out the volatile gasoline segment, sales were up 0.7 per cent. June's retail sales were revised to show a 0.3 per cent gain instead of the previously reported 0.2 per cent drop.

From "Shake It Off" to "Blank Space", much of Swift's music centers on her relationship with the public and her many perceptions. She released the first single from that album, "Shake It Off", on August 18 of that year, about two months before the entire album went on sale. Beginning this week, three cryptic videos were posted exquisite corpse-style, gradually revealing the body of a snake.

There were rumors last fall that Swift was working with Drake on a new album. Is Taylor Swift trying to tell us she's goth now?! It goes from very soft, to hard, to soft again.

But while Taylor hasn't spoken out and confirmed anything herself, her friends may just have. "She's just excited to get back out there". A photo of her face, an album title, and a release date! "Reputation", though, will have to wait for the following year, because it will be released outside of the October-to-September eligibility range.
