YouTube rolls out Chat feature for both Android and iOS apps

The feature allows users to send YouTube videos and chat within the YouTube app by adding friends and family or an invitation link, the company wrote in a blog post.

The feature was already launched in Canada earlier this year and has now been made available for users throughout the globe.

Since YouTube is a video app, it makes sense for you to, apart from text and emoji, only add other videos in its conversation threads - you can not send images to each other.

Over the coming weeks, YouTube will roll out new dollar icons showing the available business type.

The challenge here of course is to convince your friends to use this feature within the YouTube app and add to the virtual places where you communicate. We think it'll make sharing easier, faster and more fun on your phone.

The videos also show gang members describing how they would murder rivals, with shooting hand signals and waving a "Rambo knife" to a soundtrack of violent rap.

Google says that some suggested contacts may also be people that a user has interacted with on YouTube or other Google services.

Sending a direct message is the same as sharing videos. For now, YouTube has a troubleshooter tool that explains each icon's meaning, in addition to the meanings of other icons that may pop up while a video is under review, if you're sharing revenue from a video with another account.

YouTube app serves the objective of a platform for users where they can easily watch videos online. But now you can share privately via chat within the YouTube app.

To see the revenue for each of your videos, you can also check YouTube Analytics report. Now users no need to share the links to the video on other social networking sites; they share video under one app only. It's basically like having an in-app messaging option.

YouTube's goal here appears to be engaging more users with the YouTube app while also making sure that they're watching more videos.
