Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill appeared to suffer a left knee injury during a non-contact play at the team's Thursday practice.

The Miami Dolphins received an injury scare to their most important player.

Tannehill fell awkwardly on the sideline while scrambling and didn't get up.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported that the injury was to his leg after going out of bounds.

During the 2016 National Football League season, Tannehill missed the last bit of the season with a sprained ACL and MCL in his left knee.

The next question is will the Dolphins sign another quarterback to take reps in practice while Tannehill waits for the knee to recover. Backup quarterback Matt Moore, who went 2-2 while filling in for Tannehill a year ago, took over first-team reps for the Dolphins for the remainder of practice.

Last season, when Tannehill went down, Matt Moore was the replacement.

Tannehill missed the last three regular season games as well as the wild card game. "Anytime you see your quarterback go down, you think the worst".
