Who Should be the Starting Goalie in Game 4?

A win for Murray would help the Penguins even the series at two games apiece.

Crosby's brilliance showed up again midway through the second on a power play after Jean-Gabriel Pageau ripped off the Pittsburgh star's helmet in a scrum around the net.

The lead organizer of the 2018 Winter Olympics not only defended the NHL's right to keeps it's players from going to the Games, but also stated he is willing to meet the NHL's demands to get the players over to South Korea. He delivered with 24 saves on 26 shots as the Senators were held to two goals just a couple of days after racking up four in the first period.

The Senators, meanwhile, said Alex Burrows would be a game-time decision for Game 4. "It doesn't matter if you play against Ottawa or Washington", the 30-year-old Russian said.

Starting for the first time in more than six weeks, Murray made a strong stop on Mike Hoffman less than two minutes into the game and denied Viktor Stalberg on a pair of follow-up opportunities. Kyle Turris made it 5-0 late in the second period.

FORBES: While I would normally say that it's nowhere near wrong to start a goaltender with career numbers like Murray, I do think this is a big mistake for the Penguins.

He chose those last words carefully - "we made it for Game 4" - because things can change.

The decision to start Murray came as a surprise.

Celtics win NBA draft lottery, Lakers at No. 2 keep pick
Editor's note: SportsDay's Eddie Sefko recently wrote a series of columns chronicling the Mavericks' NBA draft lottery picks. The 76ers will also receive the Lakers' 2018 first round draft pick and the Kings' 2019 first-rounder with no protections.

It certainly looked like it on Friday night during three periods that looked like a carbon copy of how Pittsburgh sprinted to the franchise's fourth championship last spring.

He wouldn't elaborate on what went into the decision, nor would he reveal what was said during his conversation with Fleury.

"It wasn't like we gave up a lot of scoring chances".

The Senators were down 3-1 after the second after MacArthur's third of the playoffs with 1:38 left in the period allowed them to get on the board.

Those are not typical Penguins numbers, and that goes for when Sidney Crosby and Co. are matched up against formidable defensive teams. That brought some life into the building, because it hadn't been pretty until then.

The Penguins pulled out to a 3-0 lead when Dumoulin's shot appeared to bounce off Dion Phaneuf's skate on Anderson's glove side. The Senators faithful weren't happy with their team's effort and had a right to be upset because this wasn't the performance anybody expected with so much on the line. Crosby had a goal, an assist and five shots as the Pens downed the Ottawa Senators 3-2 on Friday night, evening the best-of-seven Eastern Conference final at two games apiece with Game 5 ahead in Pittsburgh on Sunday afternoon. Pittsburgh wasn't the least bit pleased Ottawa ended up with a power play after Bobby Ryan hit Chad Ruhwedel in the corner and Ian Cole got the only minor after he stepped in to defend his teammate. It didn't look good on Anderson and he had been solid up until that shot beat him. One of those goals came Friday courtesy of Crosby.

"We both know the drill". "We had to have our best game and we fell short of that".

There is no more controversial topic in hockey today than the Pittsburgh Penguins' decision to start Matt Murray over Marc-Andre Fleury tonight. He performed well as the club's No. 1 goalie this season - posting a.923 save percentage in 49 games - but could face some rust after a lengthy absence from the crease. I was just trying to put a puck back door and hope for some luck.
