Chipotle warns of data security breach, recommends monitoring card statements


The company said it recently found unauthorized activity on a network used for payment processing in its restaurants.Chipotle immediately launched an investigation and believe it has stopped the unauthorized activity.

Chipotle told investors during an earnings conference call that it had detected "unauthorized activity" on a network that supports payment processing for purchases made at Chipotle restaurants.

Chipotle Mexican Grill announced Tuesday that they have detected a data security breach.

"Because our investigation is continuing, complete findings are not available, it's too early to provide further details on the investigation", Hartung said.

As for same-store sales, Chipotle reported a 17.8% increase for the first quarter.
