Thanos, oops I mean, Josh Brolin to play Cable in Deadpool 2

But the studio ultimately settled on something of a surprise contender in Brolin, who has starred as the villainous Thanos in previous Marvel flicks. Thanks to Deadpool's power to break the fourth wall, expect Deadpool to say something about the fact that Brolin is already Thanos, the biggest bad guy in the Disney-owned Marvel Cinematic Universe.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Deadpool's "X-Force" collaborator Cable will be played by none other than Josh Brolin.

The production has been on the warpath to find the right actor for the role for months, with Michael Shannon nearly nabbing the role and Stranger Things star David Harbour on the shortlist. There were also rumors of Russell Crowe and Brad Pitt, but the role eventually found its actor.

Demand Arsenal forward Sanchez not motivated by money
The 28-year-old will enter the final year of his contract in the summer with no signs of a new deal being offered. Sanchez is out of contract in 2018 and talks over a renewal are on hold until the end of the season.

Deadpool 2 will drop sometime in 2018, tragically without Michael Shannon. Production is projected to start in June in Vancouver, with David Leitch ("John Wick") at the helm. Ryan Reynolds will, of course, return as the title character.

The first Deadpool, based on the foul-mouthed Marvel anti-hero of the same name, made more than $780 million on a $58-million budget to become the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever.
