Apple iPhone 8: OLED display, possible launch delay and other rumours

The phone features glass panels on the front and rear of the device, a curved borderless OLED display, and no Home button. Apple is planning to experiment a bunch of new features in the upcoming iPhone 8, however, these new experiments might push the availability of the device.

It's a critical issue because Apple seems to be intent on establish a full-size display for its flagship new device, with a curved OLED display almost eliminating the iPhone 8's bezel. Alternatively, as several rumors have suggested thus far, Apple could simply delay the iPhone 8 flagship until adequate production yields have been achieved - shipping the device in October or November, while still announcing it alongside its iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus counterparts in September.

On Tuesday, Needham & Co. analyst Rajvindra Gill said that 3D sensing - which could bring augmented reality functionality and eye scanning to the iPhone - might be pushed back to the iPhone 8s. The iPhone 8 will probably cost buyers around $850 and $900 for a model with 64GB of capacity, as indicated by another financial specialists report from UBS. This is expected to upgrade sales of the new iPhone 8 once it is officially put on sale.

iPhone 8 price will be competitive, as opposed to some perceptions, as the tech giant reportedly positions it entry-level gadgets at the mid-market with Pro and Plus products close to rivals at the high end.

The delay will not affect the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 7S models, the other two iPhone variants which are expected to be unveiled during the annual Apple event which happens during September. Also, Apple may move the SIM tray to the bottom edge of the phone, PC Advisor reported. The problem is that users of the iPhone 6 Plus have been facing touch display problems that make the iPhone 6 Plus's screen glitch out and wind up noticeably lethargic.
