The company did not elaborate on the starting price of the 2018 Grand Cherokee Trackhawk and more information regarding the SUV is likely to be revealed at the New York Auto Show.
The numbers from Jeep are jaw-dropping: zero-to-60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds, quarter-mile sprint in 11.6 seconds and a top speed of 180 miles per hour. Jeep is calling this the most powerful and quickest SUV ever. That's right! This 6.2-litre V8 Hellcat engine, seen previously in the Challenger and the Charger, now sends 707bhp of power to the all-wheel-drive in the Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, while producing a colossal turning momentum of 875Nm.
The Trackhawk is equipped with Jeep's Quadra-Trac on-demand 4WD system, which includes an electronic limited-slip rear differential and a single-speed active transfer case. The rear drive shaft and rear axle have been strengthened as well to cope with the extra power, while a new four-point axle mount provides better load distribution. Naturally, there are paddle shifters, and the normal half-second shift time can be trimmed to a quarter-second in the Sport dynamic driving mode and to just 160 milliseconds in Track mode. There's room for a Custom mode, too. Launch control is programmed as standard.
To make up for the additional mass of the Trackhawk, engineers altered the front springs, diminishing them by 9 % and the rears were stiffed by 15%. Up front are 400 mm two-piece vented rotors with six-piston calipers, and the rears are 350 mm vented rotors with four-piston calipers.
In Tow mode, with a 60:40 front/rear torque split, torque delivery off the line is smoothed out and the suspension is adjusted to combat pitch and yaw for maximum towing performance up to a towing weight of 3273kg.
On the outside, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will be coming in with a few changes like the air inlets inside of the fog lamps and a new black chrome quad exhaust tips in the back.
Joe Hart named as captain for England qualifier
Following the midweek defeat to world champions Germany, the road to Russian Federation resumes on Sunday when England welcome Lithuania to Wembley Stadium.
Apart from its bold styling, an easy way to tell a Trackhawk from other Grand Cherokee variants is air vents in place of the foglights at each side of the front bumper.
The 2018 model is available in nine flavors: True Blue, Billet Silver, Granite Crystal, Diamond Black, Ivory Tri-coat, Bright White, Velvet Red, Rhino, and Redline 2.
The interior of the auto will house soft-touch materials and black-chrome finishes.
The instrument panel now has a centered tachometer, while the 8.4-inch infotainment system gains Trackhawk-exclusive features with performance monitoring in mind.
Jeep already makes a fast version of its flagship auto, but for those who feel the 468bhp Grand Cherokee SRT is too tame, the Trackhawk version ups the ante, becoming the fastest conventionally engined SUV from 0-62mph in the process.
