EC failed to protect integrity of electoral process: AAP

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday said the Election Commission had "completely failed in its duty" to protect the integrity of the electoral process vis-a-vis the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Responding to AAP's request for verification of poll results, the EC said, "It is unfair on the part of your party to attribute unsatisfactory poll performance of your party to the alleged tamperability of EVMs". AAP had won 20 seats out of 117 in Punjab assembly polls and emerged as the largest opposition party. Congress spokesperson KK Mishra alleged that during the trial, she pushed the button number 4 which was of some other party, but the VVPAT gave the slip of BJP symbol, whereas the BJP symbol was placed at number 1 on the EVM.

The EC said, meanwhile, that it was all set to buy next-generation EVMs that become inoperable when attempts are made to tinker with them.

He said that "someone joked, saying: ' Ab toh ho gaya (Now we're done for)'", creating an impression of something gone amiss. The Congress also demanded that by-elections to Ater and Bandhavgarh should be held via ballot paper and not EVMs. After thee meeting, AAP leader Raghav Chadha told reporters that the party's preliminary analysis of booth level voting pattern showed that Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were tampered with.

Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav also urged the Election Commission to look into the matter.

Derrick Rose's New York Knicks career likely over after another knee injury
Thus ends a star-crossed season that began with a rape trial and pretty much sucked in a way that only a Knicks season can suck. This should also quash any talks of re-signing Rose for the Knicks, at least at the level that Rose has been looking for.

"The Commission strongly objects to this wrong and imaginary extrapolation of (the) Supreme Court's order". "Turning a blind eye to the shocking reports (of alleged EVM tampering) trickling in from UP, Maharashtra, Punjab and now Madhya Pradesh would serve no objective and would only erode the credibility of EC", AAP said.

"The ECI-EVMs can not be compared with those EVMs and ECI-EVMs are tamper-proof". "This may please be noted as a responsible political party". It said the team will superivse implementation of administrative and security instructions of the poll panel.

The delegation demanded to reverify the authenticity of all voting machines being deployed during these elections which must be done transparently in the presence of authorised representatives of political parties or candidates.
