Samajwadi Party After the Rout: Knives out, but Mulayam backs son

While trying to assuage the "wounds" of party workers at the meeting, SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav dubbed the defeat as the people's mandate, holding no one directly responsible for it. And 16-days later the Election Commission handed over the cycle symbol to him as numbers tilted heavily against him.

This was his first visit to the office after it was set up nearly a year ago housing the party's war room for the elections. It is numbers which again will be is undoing.

During the meet, Mr. Akhilesh told party men that the Samajwadi Party was not only a party, but an ideology, and that "our struggle will continue". "I believe most of those who have been elected are Akhilesh and Professor saab's men. If we have to survive then we have to find leadership outside family", he said. Now the exercise left for Prof Ramgopal Yadav, who is the brain behind the coup to assess the allegiance of the winning MLAs. Known for his street-fighting image where he would take up causes of the downtrodden and the marginalised, Mehrotra lost largely as Maroof Khan of the Congress refused to withdraw from the race despite his party's alliance with the SP. A sentiment that is shared by many in the ranks too. Though Akhilesh Yadav is yet to concede that the alliance was a bad idea. Both Shivpal and Mulayam had objected to an alliance with the Congress, which has proved to be a disastrous alliance.

Cowboys To Release Tony Romo On Thursday
The Cowboys scored on that drive, and Romo looked surprisingly good, surgically leading his team down the field for a touchdown. Romo isn't trying to cash in on his last few years, and it's doubtful a team would invest much.

Stating Akhilesh Yadav's behaviour as one of the major reason behind SP's loss, the expelled leader said that initially the alliance didn't have a nod from the previous party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav. For now, he pushed away the question. I will review the party's performance and analyse the results.

"In today's political scenario, people who rose to power due to dynasty rule like Rahul Gandhi ji, Akhilesh Yadav ji, Sukhbir Badal ji, Stalin ji and others, should introspect if the present Indian society is willing to accept dynasty politics", Singh added.
