11.26.09 @ 8:00 a.m. ChST No Watches Or Warnings In Effect By Jeff Marchesseault GUAM - Nida is now a Super Typhoon and is moving faster. But it's drifting west of Guam, as forecast, as it picks up intensity. As of 8:00 a.m. Chamorro Standard Time, Super Typhoon Nida was still strengthening, but no watches or warnings are in effect, according to the National Weather Service. At 7:00 a.m., the eye of Super Typhoon Nida was located near 14.0 degrees North Latitude and 141.1 degrees East Longitude. This is about 250 miles West of Guam and about 370 miles North-Northeast of Yap. Super Typhoon Nida is moving Northwest at around 14 MPH. Nida is forecast to continue moving in the same direction but begin to slow down during the next 24 hours. Maximum sustained winds have increased to 185 MPH. Super Typhoon Nida is peaking in intensity and is expected to begin slowly weakening during the next 12 hours. Typhoon force winds extend outward up to 50 miles from the center and Tropical Storm force winds extend outward up to 120 miles from the center.
